AI & the Future

        AI is the Future of Technology

As we all know, our world is starting to convert from the past traditional computer technology as we knew it, to the newer more innovative artificial intelligence (AI) technology. AI enables computers and machines to copy or simulate a human's intelligence and problem-solving capabilities without the presence of the human. AI works either on its own or many times combined with other assisting devices such as sensors, global positioning system (GPS), robotics, and other similar technologies which help AI to perform tasks that would usually call for the human mind and intervention (IBM, n.d.). AI has rapidly changed the way that computers think and operate using Natural Language Processing (NLP). Author Nigel Menezes explains in his article, The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Modern Database Management that “NLP allows for more intuitive interactions with databases by enabling users to query and analyze data using natural language, significantly lowering the barrier to entry for non-technical users(2022).

 For instance, take computer programming and coding as an example. Before AI, computers relied strictly on traditional coding language used by humans to communicate with computers. Traditional coding is a sequence of instructions a computer or machine would understand to follow and perform tasks. AI requires traditional coding; however, it also requires more than just a language. AI needs framework and code editors to design algorithms and create computer models as well.

 The main difference between traditional computing and AI lies in how they process tasks and learn from the data. While traditional computing follows a set script without deviation to execute tasks as instructed, AI learns and adapts to added information and additionally makes decisions without explicit programming. AI is also learning through machine learning algorithms and neural networks, which makes AI capable of handling complex tasks that traditional computers were unable to do.

                      AI’s Execution of Programs & Role in Software Application

 Traditional computers use computer language to execute programs, authors Vahid & Lysecky describe computer language as Like a chef executes a recipe's instructions, a CPU executes a program's instructions” in their book Computing technology for all (2019). AI uses many of the same traditional languages to execute programs. Some of the most prominent and familiar languages that AI uses are Python, for machine and deep learning, Java, for large- scaled AI projects, as well as C++ for real time systems and game development and additionally, AI also uses one of the oldest languages called LISP;

 One can view the beginning role that AI plays in software applications today. AI has already begun to be incorporated into some exceedingly popular applications such as TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram. The key role that AI plays in software applications is the distinct ability to personalize its user's experiences. AI learns behavioral patterns, algorithms to tailor content, offers personalized recommendations, and interactions meant to meet each individual preference. The personalization offered by AI enhances its individual user satisfaction, while keeping one engaged with tailored desirable content that interests its user personally. It is as if AI gets to know its user on a personal level!

                                          AI in the Medical Industry

Many medical facilities have already started to integrate AI into the healthcare system to take advantage of the newest innovations, making their jobs easier with the ability of preciseness more possible. For instance, author Ashley Welch writes on Johnson & Johnson's website that Johnson & Johnson is using AI to speed up the process of discovering new medicines and help surgeons analyze the results of procedures (Welch, Sept 13, 2023). Additionally, many medical organizations are using AI to quickly analyze data such as electronic medical records, lab results, and even medical imaging. AI assists by being more in-depth, precise, and offers efficiency due to the quickness of its data processing ability, which also allows a higher number of individuals to be cared for in a smaller amount of time.

                                          Does AI Improve Network Security?

The answer is yes, AI does improve network security and here is how- AI can be targeted toward such processes as security, therefore AI can analyze complex threats and detect novel threats because of its ability to quickly analyze vast amounts of data (Edwards, July 4, 2024). This means that instead of needing a human to process a large amount of data, (which is impossible due to the amount of time it would take), AI can identify patterns and correlations that remain impossible for humans. AI catches the issue within a pattern right away and allows for correction before an issue happens. This upgraded and innovative technology is especially helpful when dealing with personal and sensitive information.
